Learning new songs for the Piano

After a many year layoff, have started trying to learn to play the piano again, at least to an intermediate level so that the songs I play sound like.....the real songs somewhat.

Currently using MusicNotes and David Nevue's site since they both have easy piano sections and allow you to listen to the song as you read along with the music sheet preview. I don't usually listen to New Age since it does not play on mainstream radio where I am but I do like to play it as the easier versions of the songs actually are playable and sound pretty good too.

Here is one: 4am by Candlelight by David Nevue and here is the first page of the sheet music for 4am by Candlelight

Boulder Creek - July 2009

One of the hardest courses I have played in a while. Shot 14 strokes worse than at Canterbury! Too wet, too windy.....and the dead guy on number 8 threw me off my game!

Amazing Art with Spray Cans

This was the first one I saw - simply amazing. Then went and found a lot of others. I really like watching artists work and these only take a few minutes to watch and the results are incredible.

Cheetah is a live and well and living in....

Chinpanzees are more closely related to humans than they are gorillas. As pets, research animals and performers, they have a working life span of approximately 6 years - - but they live close to a human's lifespan once in captivity. So what happens to them for the rest of their lives?

Driving home from work I heard about this from my favorite NPR program.

What is Chimp Haven?
Chimp Haven is an independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a permanent retirement sanctuary for chimpanzees no longer used for medical research, entertainment, or as pets.

Chimp Haven

On NPR today I heard about this place and found out that Cheetah - from the old Tarzan movies - is still alive, 75+ years old, and living in a similar facility although a lot more human-like than this one is. The "interviewer" met Cheetah on his patio, sitting at a picnic table where he was eating Doritos and sipping on a low sugar (he is a diabetic) soda.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

This is an amazing place! Every inch of the interior is covered with some style of unbelievable work or art. A truly inspiring place.

Mark and Kevin

Mark and Kevin June 2007 in Savannah, Ga right after "surviving" the ghost tour.

Basement of The Pirate House

Suppose to be one of the most haunted spots in Savannah - the basement of The Pirate House. The stories say many men were tortured and killed in this basement. All I can tell you is that the air was perfectly clear to the naked eye. I waited until no other flashes were going off to take the shot. You can see all the orbs or whatever all over the place.

Pretty clear backyard orb

I walked off by myself and with no one else around took this when no other flashes were going off in the backyard of another “haunted” location in Savannah June 2007. A pretty clear orb is seen. This "spot" was not even on the ghost tour that we took so that eliminates the possibility of a setup. Still no clue as to whether it is a camera side effect or something else.

The first of the orbs spotted in Savannah

Look in the upper left corner for the orb - zoom in for a closer look - no other flashes going off when I took it. We have no idea what the orbs are or aren't. There are actually more orbs in this picture but fainter that I did not notice until I got home and looked at them on the computer.

Kevin brings the heat

After making Kevin hit his 5, 7, and 9 iron for 3 rounds I finally let him hit my new 3 wood and here is the result.
